Hey, I'm Mia
The numbers nerd behind The Kiwi Picks.
Kia ora!
I'm Mia — a digital data analyst with a soft spot for NZ Lotto. I've spent the last few years doing the most honest thing I know how: reading every single draw since 2018 and keeping score. No crystal ball, no "system" — just real history, counted properly.
I built The Kiwi Picks because I was tired of two things: websites that sell you "lucky numbers" like magic spells, and gurus who promise they've cracked the Lotto. Both are lying. I wanted something that told you the truth — real frequencies, real backtesting, and a straight answer about what the numbers can and can't do.
How I build the numbers
- The data: every main ball and Powerball across years of real NZ Lotto draws, updated after each draw. Each of the 40 balls gets its true appearance rate — not a guess, a count.
- The 30 lines: three styles, so you can pick the flavour you enjoy — hot numbers leaning on the frequent flyers, cold numbers hunting the quiet ones, and a balanced spread of both.
- The check: I backtest my lines against the draws that actually happened and I publish the results — including the misses. If my numbers were secretly better than random, I'd want to know; if they're not, so should you.
The honest bit
Here's the part no one else will tell you, so I will:
- Lotto is random by law. Every draw is independent. Hot numbers aren't "due" to keep coming, and cold numbers aren't "owed" a turn. My lines are for entertainment — no method, including mine, can improve your odds.
- I'm not affiliated with Lotto NZ or the New Zealand Lotteries Commission. This is an independent, unofficial read of the public record.
- Play the amount that's fun for you. A ticket is a small dream, not an investment. If it stops being fun, step away — the draws will still be there.
